Obituary

Adam Daniel Murphy, age 14, of Ludington, passed to Jesus Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 2001, in Grand Rapids to Dr. Timothy and Anne (Boes) Murphy M.D.

Adam was a gifted and talented young man. He had a sharp wit and sense of humor. Adam was a beloved student at Ludington Area Catholic School, where he attended through the eighth grade and was currently a freshman at Ludington High School. He was a board game designer and a member of the Varsity Quiz Bowl Team at Ludington High School. Adam was also an active participant in Spelling Bees, Math Counts, and was state finalist in the You Be the Chemist competition. He was an avid reader of any literary work, but favored humor, fantasy and fiction. Adam earned his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 1190, where he had achieved the rank of Star Scout. He also received the Ad Altare Dei religious emblem in scouting. Family and Faith were also of the utmost importance in his life. He enjoyed playing cards and watching movies with his family. Adam's deep faith life and belief in his God was nurtured at home, Ludington Area Catholic School and St. Simon Catholic Church.

Adam is survived by his parents, Dr. Timothy and Anne Murphy M.D. of Ludington; two sisters: Erin and Lindy Murphy of Ludington and one brother: Jared Murphy of Ludington; Grandparents, Dr. Miles J. (Judy) Murphy M.D. II of Grand Rapids, MI and, Richard (Susan) Boes of Ludington. (Cindy) Murphy III of Grand Rapids, MI, Colleen Murphy of Madison , MI, Kathleen (Tim) Schilter of Cedarburg, WI, Martin (Bridget) Murphy of Grand Rapids, MI, Jane (Kevin) Fitzgerald of Elmhurst, IL; Great Aunts and Uncles, Msgr. Francis Murphy of Cadillac, MI, Sister Carmelita Murphy O.P. of Grand Rapids, MI, Kathleen Johnston of CA, Jill Faber of FL, Buzz McMahon of Grand Rapids, MI, Patrick McMahon of Grand Rapids, MI, Kenn Wiest of Chicago, Donn Wiest of Oshkosh, WI, Tim Wiest of Sheboygan, WI, Jonathon Wiest M.D. PhD of Washington, DC, Sandra Johnson of Lansing, MI, Barb Ebert of Brown Deer, WI. He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Anne Murphy.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Adam will be offered Friday, June 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church 702 E. Bryant Road with the Rev. Msgr. Francis Murphy and the Rev. Father Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr., concelebrating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at King Funeral Home and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church, where the Evening Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm. Visitation also Friday one hour prior to Mass at St. Simon Catholic Church, 702 East Bryant Road, Ludington, MI.
