Mrs. Adamarie Merrifield, age 76, of Hart died Monday September 14, 2009. She was born in Hart on March 3, 1933 to John and Margaret (Wicks) Verschueren. Adamarie was a graduate of Hart High School Class of 1951 and attended West Shore Community College. On September 1, 1951, she married George Merrifield in Hart and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2001. She was employed as a medical secretary with Hart Hospital and then was the church secretary at Hart Congregational UCC of which she was a longtime member. Her interests included round and square dancing with the Melody Mates Square Dance Club, was an election worker at the old State Street Gym, an active member of the church and helped with many funeral luncheons. She was always home for her children coming home from school and had fresh baked goods awaiting their arrival. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them stay at grandma's house. She is survived by her children, Paul (Rhonda) Merrifield of Ludington and Margaret (Ron) Wolverton of Grand Ledge, MI; 4 grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Michael and Lacy; 2 great grandchildren, Quintin and Athena; brother, Joseph (Donna) Verschueren of North Muskegon. Along with her husband George, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Beadle. The Memorial Service for Mrs. Merrifield will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from the Hart Congregational UCC with Pastor Lorraine Boucon officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hart Congregational Church UCC.
