Agnes Mary (Lucz) Henley, 90, of Shelby, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013. She was born November 11, 1922, in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Julia Lucz. She served as a Lieutenant Army Nurse during WWII and was stationed in Belleville, IL. She married Victor V. Henley, August 31, 1946 in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Lansing, MI, where they raised their nine children. She worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years and was an active member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. She and her husband moved to their Lake Michigan home in Shelby, MI, upon retirement and were affiliated with St. Vincent Church in Pentwater. Her special joys in life were her family and good friends, cooking, gardening, leisure time at the lake, and world travel. She was a loving woman, friend to all, and always took special care to create the loving and caring family who will greatly miss her.
Agnes is survived by her nine children, Michael (Randi Yoder) Henley of Minneapolis, MN, Thomas Henley of Victoria, BC and Bangkok, Thailand, Kathleen Premer of Shelby, MI, Maureen (Robert) Thomann of Iron River, MI, Vickie (Dan) Warfield of Lutz, FL, James (Jane Dosemagen) Henley of Pentwater, MI , Dennis (Caroline) Henley of Bozeman, MT, Patrick Henley of Shelby, MI, and Kevin (Lisa) Henley of Pentwater; eighteen grandchildren, Lindsay, James, Nicole, Danielle, Dallas, Devon, Bhrea, Meaghan, Cullen, Elizabeth, Bridget, Andrew, Michael, Kaitlin, Benjamin, Natalie, Nicholas, and Vincent; one great-grandchild, Ava, with another great-grandchild expected in 2014; and one brother, Edward Lucz of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a sister, Alice Lucz; and two brothers, Joseph and John Lucz.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday, November 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pentwater with Father Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Interment will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at King Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
