Obituary

Agnes Ethel Rought, 97, of Pentwater, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 6, 2012. She was born in Hesperia, Michigan, May 20, 1914, to Leon & Mary (Borst) Howe. She grew up in Hesperia and graduated from Hesperia High School 1932. Agnes married Glenn Delbert Rought, who was also from Hesperia area, on July 20, 1935. In 1946, Glenn & Agnes moved their family to Pentwater, Michigan, and went into business as the Glenn Rought Construction Company. She was the business manager for their business. Agnes was an active member of St James Episcopal Church for 61 years, where she was Altar & Flower Guild Director, Choir member, a member of the Daughters of the King (DOK) and supporter of all church activities. She was an active member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Pentwater Garden Club, where she was active as a flower arranger, a teacher and a flower show participant. She won a number of blue ribbons and Best in Show awards. She received a life membership from the Michigan Garden Club in 2007. Agnes had a gift for music and loved to sing and play many instruments. She has passed that love on to her children & grandchildren. Much more could be said of Agnes, but it best summed up as: Agnes loved life, enjoyed people, and loved her God, family, community and country.

Glenn, her husband of 70 years, preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived
by three children, Barry Rought of Humble, TX, Jack Rought of Pentwater and Connie (Rought) Alvesteffer of Hart, 16 grandchildren, and 40 Great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mrs. Rought will be Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church in Pentwater with Father Sam Morrison officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Pentwater Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. James Episcopal Church, 82 S. Wythe, Pentwater, MI 49449.
