Mr. Albert Leonard Tanner, age 81, of Walkerville, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012. He was born March 10, 1931, in Hart to Hugh and Emma (Craker) Tanner. He graduated from Walkerville High school in 1948 and married LulaBelle Ward on December 22, 1951, in Walkerville. Mr. Tanner was the owner and operator of A. Tanner and Sons Roofing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, vegetable gardening, driving his red truck at 20 MPH tops, and was also known as a "face butterer".Albert is survived by one daughter, Shari (Jeff Rohn) Tanner of Twin Lake; five sons, Wayne (Ann) Tanner of Walkerville, Chuck (Phyllis) Tanner of Garrett, Indiana, Jerry (Mary) Tanner of Walkerville, Tony (Karlene) Tanner of Hesperia, and John (Karen) Tanner of Walkerville, MI; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Tanner of Hart and Julia Payne of Shelby; brother-in-law, Russell Ward of Walkerville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, LulaBelle, his parents, his brother, Laverne Tanner, and his daughter-in-law, Lori Tanner. The funeral service for Mr. Tanner will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Walkerville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bob Abbott officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
