Mr. Alejandro "Alex" Bernal, age 36, of Mears, MI, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. He was born December 9, 1977, in San Benito, TX, to Alfonso and Eva (Herevia) Bernal. Alex served in the United States Marine Corps; married Ana Reyes on September 5, 1998, at St. Joseph Catholic Church; and was employed by the State of Michigan as a Corrections Officer. Alex enjoyed fishing, the out of doors, shooting, taking bike rides with his daughter, his dogs, sports, and his car, Mustang Rose. He attended all of his children's events and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one.
He is survived by his wife, Ana Bernal of Mears, MI; children, Alejandro "AJ" Jr. Isabel Bernal, both living at home; his parents, Alfonso and Eva Bernal of Edinburg, TX; three brothers, Alfonso (Violeta) Bernal Jr. of Edinburg, TX; Claudio (Lupita) Bernal of Bitely, MI; Jaime (Katie) Bernal of Walkerville, MI; his sister, Veronica Bernal of Edinburg, TX; his parents-in-law Julian (Maria) Tienda of Mears, MI; along with several nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, Victor and Paula Herevia.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Hart with Father Thomas Bolster presiding. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. There will be a visitation again on Saturday morning one hour prior the service.
