Allan Loren Armstrong, 92, of Luther, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior, following a short illness, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his winter home in Green Valley, Arizona, with his children by his side. He was born August 22, 1933, in Fremont, the son of Loren and Mabel (Giddings) Armstrong.
Allan was a graduate of Hesperia High School, and played varsity football on Hesperia’s first football team, and was a member of Hesperia Future Farmers of America.
Allan proudly served his country from 1952 - 1956 in the US Navy, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.
Following Allan’s time in the service, he returned to Hesperia to raise a family with his loving wife, Beverly Armstrong. He was a farmer in the community specializing in beef and dairy. He and his family worked hard on the farm, and even though it was work, they always had fun doing it together. Allan was a generous man to his community and neighbors and very civically minded. He truly loved his community and was involved in many organizations, such as the Hesperia and Luther Lions Clubs where he served as Past President and was a lifetime member, as well as the Hesperia-Arcana Masons Lodge No. 346 F. & A.M., Luther-Lakes Masons Lodge No. 370 F. & A.M., 4-H, World Vision, and Heifer International. Allan was a familiar face at many fundraising events where he loved cooking for the local clubs.
Allan was a member of the Hesperia Presbyterian Church until he and Beverly moved to Luther. They joined the Luther United Methodist Church where he remained a member until his passing.
In Allan’s younger years he enjoyed participating in the Hesperia Rodeo where he would compete as a barrel racer, but he also had many other hobbies, including fishing, golfing, camping, square dancing, traveling, going on adventures, and maybe most of all, playing cards with family and friends.
Allan’s passion was helping other’s and being of service, especially to his family. He enjoyed woodworking, and helped his children with home remodeling, cabinet building, and crafting hope chests for his children and grandchildren.
Allan also had a passion for conservation; he enjoyed wildflowers, monarch butterfly habitats, feeding birds, and gardening. He loved animals, especially his cat, Miss Kitty.
Allan is survived by: his children, Tony (JoAnn) Armstrong, Loren (Lori) Armstrong, Pattie (Pat) Bartolini, and Mary Jo (Scott) DeBrot; grandchildren, Jamie (Anthony) Brinkman, Toni Marie Armstrong, Chris (Miranda) Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Cade Armstrong, Christopher (Michelle) Foight, Dillon (Glenna) Foight, Austin (Kristin Lucha) Foight, Frankie (Jessica) Bartolini, Julie Bartolini, and Tony Bartolini; great-grandchildren, Lexie Gleason, Joe Brinkman, Betty Jo Gerhardt, Gregory Rabach, Kaldon Dixon, Kylie Dixon, Landon Armstrong, Lana Armstrong, Gentry Armstrong, Benjamin Foight, Cormac Foight, Lewin Foight, Preston Foight, Karson Foight, Jackson Foight, Miles Sackett, Evan Bartolini, and Gabrielle Bartolini; sister, Carol Thomas; and his close companion and new love, Barbara Stenger.
Allan was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly Armstrong; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Armstrong; and siblings, Barbara Armstrong, Onalee Bloomstrom, and Lois Joan Young.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Hesperia Presbyterian Church, 82 Church Avenue, Hesperia, MI 49421. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Volney Cemetery.
