IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Allan Armond
Schmuckal
October 26, 1939 – January 31, 2025
Allan Schmuckal, 85, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at Munson Medical Center, with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
He was born on October 26, 1939, to Armond and Eleanor Schmuckal on their homestead farm in Hannah (Kingsley), Michigan. Allan graduated from St. Mary of Hannah School and was a lifelong member of the Church.
Allan served in the Army from 1963 to 1969, stationed in Germany where he served as a sharpshooter and a tank operator. Following his service, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator, alongside his brother Milo, building pipelines throughout Michigan. He retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 after 35 years.
Allan and Barbara were married on July 5, 1974, and were blessed with their daughter Amber Schmuckal-Belvin, and step-son Steve Haughton. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July with family and friends.
Farming ran deep in Allan's blood. He worked alongside his brother and lifelong sidekick, Milo, and nephew Brian Schmuckal on their now Centennial Family farm, especially enjoying his time raising cattle and growing quality crops.
Allan will be remembered fondly as a kind and gentle man with an easy smile. He was hardworking and proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, reminiscing about the past, catching up with fellow farmers, playing euchre and always saved room for a piece of pie and ice cream.
Allan is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Schmuckal; his daughter, Amber (Ricky) Belvin; his granddaughter, Hannah, and grandson, Beau Belvin; his sister-in-law, Chari Schmuckal; his brother-in-law Gary (Sharon) Burkholder, his daughter-in-law, Tammy Haughton, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Eleanor; his older sister, Geraldine (Bob) Sailus; his brother, Milo Schmuckal; and his step-son, Stephen Haughton.
