Mr. Allen Francis Aerts, age 71, of Hart, Michigan, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014. He was born May 9, 1943, in Hart to Francis "Frank" and Theresa (Greiner) Aerts. A graduate of Hart High School with the Class of 1961, he served with the US Army in Korea from 1964-1966. On May 22, 1971, he married Joanne M. Morong in Freesoil; they were married forty-three years before his passing. Allen retired in 2003 after working for GTE/Verizon for forty years. He was a member of VFW Post #6017 in Pentwater, a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare, and served as Weare Township Supervisor for thirty-four years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood and playing cards.

Allen is survived by his wife, Joanne Aerts of Hart; his three children, Shelley (Tom) Gregwer of Grandville, Bryan (Angela) Aerts of Hart, and Jason (Anne) Aerts of North Muskegon; eight grandchildren, Brenna, Audrey, and Caeley Aerts and Tommy, Claire, Tessa, Geneva, and Olivia Gregwer; four sisters, Regina (Jack) Tate of Hart, Charlene (Jerry) Daggett of Pentwater, Marilyn (Bill) Polsen of Pentwater, and Marsha (Bob) Polsen of Pentwater; and one brother, Ralph (Paula) Aerts of Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Aerts will be offered Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hart with Fr. Charles Brown presiding. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A second visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
