Van Putten
February 14, 1944 – June 26, 2021
Allen Jack Van Putten, 77, unexpectedly joined the love of his life, Sharon Van Putten, in Heaven, on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Allen was born February 14, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Jacob and Marie Van Putten.
Allen graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and attended Calvin College until he met and married his sweetheart. Allen started his banking career at Michigan National Bank, then opened and served as President of Kentwood National Bank, and ended his career with Comerica Bank as Vice President of all mortgage lending.
Allen and Sharon spent many years RVing full-time, criss-crossing the country many times and totaling over a half million miles. While traveling, Allen devotedly cared for Sharon, who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. He also completed a portion of America's Great Loop in 2019. He was devoted to full-time RVing and helped many others become full-timers as well. Allen was a campground volunteer at the time of his passing at Silver Lake State Park in Mears, Michigan.
Allen will be dearly missed by: his daughters, Debra Van Putten and Vicki (Jon) Ruiter; his grandchildren, Tim (Allison) Ruiter, Charlie Ruiter, and Juliana Ruiter; his siblings, Dr. Ron (Gert) Van Putten and Laurie (Rev. Tom) Vanden Huevel; many nieces and nephews; and good friend, Rev. Frank Lee, of Naples, Florida.
Allen was preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Sharon (Zeephat) Van Putten; his parents, Jacob and Marie Van Putten; brother, Peter Van Putten; and sister-in-law, Mary (Geenen) Van Putten.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Wabasis Lake Park enclosed shelter, 11220 Springhill Drive, Greenville, MI 48838.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is handling local arrangements.
