Allen “Al” Lee Wooley, 80, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026.

Born on August 1, 1945, to Harmon and Freda (Whitman) Wooley, Al, known by family as Butch, lived a life marked by service, strength, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Al served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of dedication and integrity throughout his life. Following his military service, he devoted 32 years to Kingsley Area Schools, where he became a familiar and respected presence in the community before retiring in 2010. Through his years at the school, he touched countless lives with his steady work ethic, friendly nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

While he was proud of his military service and career, his greatest pride was always his family.

When he wasn’t spending time with those he loved, Al found freedom on the open road. Riding his motorcycle wasn’t just a hobby—it was part of who he was. He embraced every ride with a sense of adventure and joy, finding peace in the journey and camaraderie among fellow riders. Whether he was on his bike or sharing stories afterward, he lived life with a free spirit that inspired those around him.

Al was also a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He looked forward to his frequent trips to Cracker Barrel, where he enjoyed good food, warm conversation, and the friendships he built with what he affectionately considered his “Cracker Barrel family.” He never met a stranger for long and had a contagious smile that could brighten anyone’s day. His heart was as big as his laugh, and those fortunate enough to know him will remember his generosity, humor, and genuine kindness.

He is lovingly survived by his children: Steve (Brenda) Wooley, Colleen Blakesley, Angelique (Ben) Estelle, and Camilla (Jesper) Sonderskov. He was a proud grandfather to Allen (Renee), Benjamin (Kaitlin), Ashley (Michael), Tyler (Kyleen), Cylie, Keaton, Dylan, Olivia, and Kalle, and a cherished great-grandfather to Thomas, Alexander, Dale, Jaxson, and Waylon.

He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Elaine) Wooley, sister-in-law Rosellia, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and everyone whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Freda (Whitman) Wooley; his brother, Harmon Wooley; Sister-in Law Janis Wooley, son-in-law, Phillip Blakesley, and his niece Memphis Skye.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and friends at Cracker Barrel, whose kindness and friendship brought Al so much joy over the years. They became an important part of his life and will always hold a special place in his family’s heart.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. His legacy of love, laughter, resilience, compassion, and selfless service will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of calling him family or friend.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Cornerstone Church, 7511 Blackman Road, Kingsley, Michigan  49649, with Pastor Mike Brayton officiating.  Interment with military honors conducted under the auspices of the Fife Lake American Legion Post 219 will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Mesick.  A luncheon will then take place at the church.

The family asks that you honor his memory by sharing a story, extending kindness to others, cherishing time with those you love, and, if you find yourself on the open road, thinking of Al with a smile.
