Ann Marie Alpin, 82 of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side
Ann Marie was born February 12, 1943, in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of Walter Henry Niedzwiecki Sr. and Anna Marie Blaszkiewicz. Growing up in a loving family, she found her joy in learning to play the piano. The highlight of her musical career was playing Malaguena at Greenfield Village with back-to-back baby grand pianos. From that love, she taught piano to other individuals and was a professional pianist. She was also an accomplished artist, painting beautiful landscapes, many of Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. Her artistry became well known and thus Whispering Pine Art Gallery in Traverse City, began.
Ann Marie married the love of her life, Ronald K. Alpin on May 27, 1967, at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City.
Ann Marie was able to continue her passions of music and art while graduating from Michigan State University as a Medical Assistant.
Ann Marie's devotion to family continued, joining the family business as office manager of (Indian Trail Lodge) Traverse Beach Motel and Condominium. She was instrumental in the day-to-day operations and greeted everyone with a smile and loved to help plan their vacations to the area which she deeply loved. Her and her husband owned and operated The Trading Post, showcasing her resin creations of Miracle Mile beach sand and Sno-Placer, their snowplowing operation.
Ann Marie was a devoted mother who shared her love, morals and living example of her catholic faith to her daughter, Heather Ann. Ann Marie was a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church, member of The Business Professional Woman's Club and the Grand Traverse Orchid Society.
Ann Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Ann Marie is survived by her daughter Heather Ann Marie Welch-Alpin, her son-in-law Robert Welch Jr. and stepdaughter Autumn Welch.
