IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Elizabeth
Tierney
December 17, 1929 – December 15, 2016
Ann Elizabeth Tierney, of Pentwater passed away at her home on December 15, 2016. She was born on December 17, 1929 in Windber, Pennsylvania, to Anna and Michael Totsky. She later moved to the Delray neighborhood of Detroit, graduating from Detroit Southwestern High School. She married her husband, Jim Tierney, on June 6, 1959, living briefly in Chicago, before moving to West Bloomfield, Michigan, raising two loving sons, Jim and Dan.
After years of visiting Pentwater on weekends and summers, Ann and Jim became permanent residents of Pentwater in 1986. The decades before and after were spent enjoying sunsets over Lake Michigan, Thursday night band concerts, and entertaining their many wonderful friends.
Ann was an avid reader, with an interest in politics, history, and culture. She was born with a natural curiosity and love for people and all living things. While she had strong opinions on many topics, she was always interested in what other's thought, how they felt, and why they valued things.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jim, and her brothers, Michael Totsky and James Totsky. She is survived by her sons, James (New Haven, Connecticut) and Daniel (Seattle, Washington), many nieces and nephews, and cousins. The Tierney family would like to share their gratitude to Diana Meyer, Sherry Shafer, Louie Herremans, and her many friends and neighbors on Lake Breeze Drive for their love and care over the years.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Tierney will be offered, Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pentwater with Father Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Interment will be in the Pentwater Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the St. Vincent Catholic Church. A celebration of her life is planned for Spring/Summer 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration to donate to the Crystal Valley Care Fund, P.O. Box 451, Hart, MI 49420 or other charity in her memory.Visitation
