Zywicki
January 17, 1932 – July 20, 2021
Anthony J. "Tony" Zywicki Sr., 89, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021 at Munson Hospice House. He was born January 17, 1932, in Cedar, Michigan, to the late John and Theresa (Plamondon) Zywicki.
After working the family farm as a young man, Anthony enlisted in the US Air Force when he was 20 years old. He served in the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to being honorably discharged. After returning home, Anthony married the love of his life, Margaret Louise Smith. They were married for 67 years prior to his passing. Anthony found work as a carpenter and mason before being employed by Cone Drive/Textron for over 30 years. In his spare time, he loved woodworking, gardening, and making homemade wine. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. In life, Anthony was a devout Catholic, serving as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus for 47 years. Anthony was also a lifetime member of the VFW and held three trustee positions.
In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by: his children and their spouses, David (Lhara) Zywicki, Robert (Tammie) Zywicki, Anthony Jr. (Kelley) Zywicki, and Margie (Terry) Dudley; along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Leonard Zywicki, Al Zywicki, Virginia (Zywicki) Kuhr, Vincent Zywicki, Sister Teresa Ann Zywicki, and Carl Zywicki.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Rose Mikowski, Lucille Fleis, James Zywicki, John Zywicki, Andrew Zywicki, and Beatrice Zywicki.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Holy Rosary Church, in Cedar, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar. A celebration of life with food and refreshments will take place at the home of Tony Jr. and Kelley Zywicki, 5650 S. Lime Lake Road, Cedar, immediately following graveside services. Visitation will also be held from 5-7:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2021 at the church, with the Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Fred Foundation.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
