Arthur Lee Griswold D.O., age 94, of Traverse City, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Traverse City, Michigan.

Arthur was born on November 21, 1931, in Kirksville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie Arthur and Ila (Gates) Griswold. He was the oldest of 3 sons, and preceded in death by Ross and survived by Roy LaVerne (brothers).

Arthur graduated from South Lyon High School in 1949 and went on to attend Adrian College, followed by Drake University, where he was introduced by his best friend, Lantz Mackey, to his future wife, Patricia (Noel) Griswold.

Arthur and Patricia shared a loving and devoted marriage from 1953 until her passing in 2020.

Arthur served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was based in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Upon his return, he acquired his degree in Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1961.

Dr. Griswold practiced medicine in South Lyon, Michigan, from 1962 until 1985 while raising a family with four boys.

Arthur and Patricia then moved north and built their dream home near Fife Lake, Michigan. He continued to practice part time in Lewiston, Michigan until 1994. He was known for his professionalism, integrity, compassion, and deep commitment to his patients.

Arthur was cherished for his devotion to his family and the lasting relationships he built throughout his life. He was an avid runner and enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and hiking.

He is survived by his four sons, Greg (Therese), Bryan (Diana), Robert, and Les (Jill) Griswold, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on 4/26 at 11 am. Location is Kirkbride Hall at 700 Cottageview Dr Traverse City, MI 49684.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Grand Traverse Literacy Council or FLOW.
