The world lost a kind and gentle soul on Thursday, October 19, 2017, when Audrey Lynn Miller, 19, left this world.
First and foremost, Andrey was a caregiver and a helper. She was a member of the Direct Care Staff at Spectrum Community Services. Audrey made it her life's work to care for the vulnerable and downtrodden members of her community: the homeless, the disabled, those with special needs; there wasn't anyone she wouldn't help. Audrey's desire to care for others spilled over into the animal world, where she was a real-life Snow White. She took in strays, nursed them back to health, and re-homed them, all while attending college and volunteering at local animal shelters. Her pets were her children, and she made sure every being that crossed her path---man or beast---felt loved and cared for. Audrey also loved to cook and feed people, and she had a beautiful singing voice.
Audrey was a fighter who, at the tender age of 13, fought her way back from a near-death experience that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and multiple traumas, which served to deepen her resolve to help others. Audrey's mission to help others lives on even in death; at her request, her brain was donated for medical research so that others battling traumatic brain injuries may have a better quality of life. Audrey was a good person, and she left this world a better place than she found it.
Audrey's memory will be cherished by the loved ones she leaves behind: her mother, Amy Edens of Free Soil; her father, Jason Walker of Grand Rapids; her fiancé, Stephen Schulte of Free Soil; her siblings, Jared Michael, Edward Delbert, and Lillian Esther Miller of Free Soil; her dog, Hugo; her cat, Fiona; and hundreds of other friends and loved ones.
When Audrey entered Heaven, she rushed into the loving arms of her late maternal grandparents, Gary and Paula Miller.
A celebration of Audrey's life will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Walsh VFW Post #4499, 1211 28th Street, Manistee, Michigan 49660. You're welcome to bring your favorite dish to pass.
