Mrs. Barbara Jean Jensen, age 91, of Hart, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013. She was born May 18, 1921, in Shelby to Ray and Olive (Hasty) Kludy. On August 25, 1940 in Hart, she married William R. Jensen and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Jensen was employed as a school teacher and principal in one room school houses in Oceana County and at Mouth School in Montague, where she was instrumental in introducing instrumental music to her students. She was a member and the organist of the Hart United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and its director for many years, Oceana County MARSP, Hart Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Hart United Methodist Church Women and the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church Women, Oceana Historical Society, Oceana Hospital Auxiliary, and Hospice.
Barbara is survived by one daughter: Elizabeth Hammerle of Hart; two sons, Curtis (Anne) Jensen of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Stanley (Margaret) Jensen of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister: Marian Honsinger of Arizona; son in law, Richard Richardson of Hart; brother in law, Harrison Gale of Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Jensen, daughter Marjorie Richardson, granddaughter, Michelle Hammerle, sisters, Kathryn Joyce Gale and Marjorie Vickery, son in law, Adrian Hammerle.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Jensen will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the Hart United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca Wieringa officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Hart United Methodist Church, 308 S.
