Barbara G. Kraus, age 93, of Pentwater, Michigan, passed away on August 3, 2015. Barbara was born on March 3, 1922, to the late Dr. Murlin and Louise Gardner in Walkerville, Michigan, where Dr. Gardner was a dentist. Barbara graduated from Walkerville High School. In 1943, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in home economics from Michigan State College and was awarded a lifetime teaching certificate from the Michigan Department of Education. On July 3, 1943, she married Dr. Leo G. Kraus. The couple moved to Grand Rapids where they became members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. While raising their family, Barbara assisted her husband in his veterinary practice until his retirement in 1979. They then moved to Pentwater. Barbara was active in the Michigan State University Alumni Association of Grand Rapids and when she and her husband moved to Pentwater, she became an active member of St. Vincent Catholic Church. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and especially her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and a son, Stephen Kraus, of Eugene, Oregon. She is survived by her sister Joyce (Lloyd) Van Aelst of Hart, Michigan; her children Karen (Dennis) McNeil of Munster, Indiana, Kathryn (Damian) Nunzio of Grand Rapids, Michigan, John (Arnette) Kraus of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Karl (Janice) Kraus of Bad Axe, Michigan; grandchildren Jennifer (Amit) Dhadwal of Chicago, Illinois, Geoffrey (Lauren) NcNeil of Pleasant Hill, California, Ryan (Nichole) NcNeil of Lansing, Michigan, Matthew (Lisa) Kraus of Ada, Michigan, Brian (Dana) Kraus of Rockford, Michigan, Kristopher Kraus of Wangchen, Thailand, Paul (Anna) Kraus of Malmo, Sweden, Michael Kraus of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andrew Kraus of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristyna Nunzio, Tiffany Nunzio, Ashley Nunzio all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Damian Nunzio Jr. of Lansing, Michigan, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pentwater at 11:00 am on Friday, August 7, 2015. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until the commencement of Mass. Barbara will be buried next to her husband in the St. Joseph Catholic Church cemetery in Weare, Michigan.
