Barbara Lynn (Sandison) Misico, 71, of Elk Rapids, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family on June 27, 2022. Barb, the daughter of Jack and Jessie Sandison, was born February 14, 1951, in Detroit. She graduated from Thurston High School in 1969 and went on to attend Michigan State University.

Barb spent many summers vacationing at her beloved family cottage on Birch Lake. After marrying the love of her life, Duane, on April 2, 1977, the couple would eventually settle in Elk Rapids. The cottage remained in her care for many years to come.

Barb loved to read and could often be found with a novel in her hands. After retiring as an administrator in the medical field she volunteered her time at the Elk Rapids Public Library. Barb loved to travel, from overseas, out west, the U.P., and everywhere in between. Music was another one of her greatest loves and she enjoyed countless concerts, such as the Eagles, Bob Seger, Tina Turner, and many more. Those who think of Barb may also think of butterflies, especially monarchs. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage.

Barb had a huge heart and would always put family first. She faced the end just as she faced life, with courage and grace. Strong in faith, she knew she would be welcomed into Heaven by her loved ones who were already there. Barb's warm smile and distinct laughter are just a couple of many things that will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sister, Jackie; and her little angel, Lindsay.
