Obituary

Benjamin Allen Liebertz, 60, of Ellsworth, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024. He was born December 24, 1963, the son of Frederick (Rick) Liebertz and Jean Weiss. He grew up enjoying life to the fullest.

Benjamin married Sally Ann Franczek on September 8, 1990.

Benjamin's first job while in high school was washing baking pans for Morats Bakery. He was an apprentice at White Lake Electric through the Whitehall work program. He later attended Grand Rapids Culinary Arts Program and worked as a chef at the White Sands. Benjamin held a Journeyman's License and traveled extensively in his career supervising in many big jobs in Michigan, Indiana, and California. He initially had his own company "Michigan Electric" before working for the big guys.

After retirement, Benjamin enjoyed cooking for his family, mastering the art of baking sourdough bread, fishing with friends aboard his boat, painting handcrafted bobbers and lures, playing video games with his daughter, tending to his garden and apple trees, watching football and basketball, hunting, making homemade soap, spending time with family, and napping with his dog, Hoover. He was a big collector and if he loved something, he had more than what he needed and was willing to give something to everyone. When Benjamin wasn't at home honing his cooking skills, he could often be found fishing on his boat or off the pier in Grand Haven, Michigan. At a young age, his talent for fishing brought him to tie the record for largemouth bass ever caught here. He grew up enjoying life to the fullest and that mentality stayed with him until his final day.

Benjamin's mind was always in overdrive, and often his mouth; he was a talker! He could converse with anyone about most anything. The day he was leaving to return "home" to Whitehall, truck packed, dog at his side, sadly was the day he never made it but went directly "home" to be with his God.

Benjamin is survived by: his daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Liebertz; wife, Sally; mother, Jean Corsi; brothers, Carl Liebertz and Christopher (Laura) Liebertz; step-brothers, Gary Corsi and Alex; step-sisters, Rhonda Walsh and Brenda Corsi; step-mother, Nancy Liebertz; half-sisters, Amy (Andy) Wolfson and his daughter Zoe, Julie (Randy) Behm and their children Harrison and Elsa; mother-in-law, Nancy Franczek; and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephew.

Benjamin was preceded in death by: his father, Frederick Liebertz; step-father, Richard Corsi; step-brothers, Richard Corsi and Jeff Corsi; and father-in-law, Walter Franczek.
