Mrs. Bernice (Nana) Weldon went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007. She was born on May 11, 1918 and spent her younger years in Texas and Oklahoma before settling in Brawley, CA for the majority of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill Weldon, and a brother, Jack Shelton. After her husband's death, she came to Hart, MI to reside with her daughter. Bernice was a nursing caregiver at Pioneers Memorial Hospital for 30 years before she retired. She enjoyed sewing and fine hand work. She was quite a skilled seamstress; blessing many of her family members with beautiful clothing and gorgeous hand made quilts. She was lots of fun to be around and could cook an awesome batch of tacos and play a killer game of dominoes. She is survived by a large family who loved her dearly; younger brother, Cody Shelton of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 3 daughters Albert and (Barbara) Reyes of Yuma, AZ, Thomas and (Patricia) Zack of Hart, MI, James and (Donna) Perkins of Fresno, CA, and son Jerry Weldon of Aguila, AZ. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Valley Baptist Church in Brawley for 25 years, and Elbridge Community Church in Michigan for 4 years. Additionally, at each placed she lived, she says goodbye to many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Tues. November 6th, 2007 from 6-8p.m. at Tate-King Funeral Home in Hart, MI. The memorial service will be held at Elbridge Community Church on Wed., November 7th at 11a.m. and officiated by Pastor Dennis Hintz. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributing to a fund for Bernice's great granddaughter Rebekah Tate, established with the West Shore Bank.
