Mrs. Bessie L. Haynor Mast, age 89, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007. She was born January 13, 1918 in Hart to Roy and Dolly (Weirich) McCarty. She joined Albert Haynor in marriage in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She then married Henry Mast and he also preceded her in death in 1996. Bessie was a graduate of Hart High School and was employed at Powers Clothing Store for many years. She was a very active member of the Elbridge Community Church, Oceana Agricultural Society, County Fair Board,
4-H leader, Extension Club, Red Hat Society, and the Order of the Eastern Star #60 of Hart and Shelby. Bessie loved sewing, quilting and most of all her family. She is survived by 3 sons, Richard (Phyllis) Haynor of Lawton, MI, Dale (Coleen) Haynor of Nunica and Terry (Debbie) Haynor of Hart; 1 daughter, Gloria (Eugene) Billingsley of Fremont; 1 step-son, Ron (Carol) Mast of Twin Lake; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Thais Fraizer of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert, Wayne and Ernest McCarty. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2008 at the Elbridge Community Church. Interment in the Elbridge Township Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Elbridge Community Church or American Lung Association.
