Mrs. Betty J. O'Meara, age 82 of Hart, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009. She was born in Detroit to Emil and Jessie (Wineman) Mortiere. On July 10, 1948, she married Jerry O'Meara in Detroit. She was employed in her early years as a sales clerk. Mrs. O'Meara graduated with the Class of 1945 from McKenzie High School. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and the Ladies Club of the Church. Her interests included flowers, gardening, crotchet, knitting, puzzles and square dancing with the Melody Mates Square Dance Club. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jerry O'Meara of Hart; children, Kelly (Lynn) O'Meara of Pleasant Ridge, MI, Sheila Miller of Lake Orion, MI; four grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Conor O'Meara, Caitrin O'Meara, Sarah Miller; four sisters in law, Virginia Sellman of Florida, Noreen Loper of Livonia, MI, Gerri O'Meara of Phoenix, AZ, Pat (Adam) Kowalski of Phoenix, AZ; one brother in law, Thomas (Judy) O'Meara of Northville, MI; many nieces, nephews and friends. The Mass of the Resurrection will be offered Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Schneider presiding. Interment will be in the Mears Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Visitation also on Friday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oceana County Medical Care Facility or to the St. Gregory Catholic Church Youth Ministry.
