Bjarne Dennis Albrechtsen, 80, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025. He was born January 10, 1945, in Jelling, Denmark, the son of Svend and Grethe (Bihlet) Albrechtsen.
On August 9, 1968, Dennis married Susana Ruiz, and together, were blessed with two children during their 57 years of marriage.
In 1963, Dennis graduated from Everett High School, in Lansing. He spent the last two years of high school learning about auto mechanics in trade school through the School for Automobile Mechanics, in Maryland. Dennis proudly served our country in Michigan National Guard from 1962 to 1968. After honorably serving six years, he earned an Associate's Degree in Science, at Lansing Community College, and later earning a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University, in Mechanical Engineering. In 1964, Dennis worked for the Oldsmobile Division of G.M.C., in Lansing, starting out in production and advancing to leadership roles within the company. He later started working for Howmet in 1974, as a senior executive, until his retirement in 2004.
Dennis was a proud member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He enjoyed golf, photography, motorcycles, sailing, speedboats, and woodworking. He was an avid traveler, traveling all over the world, especially to Denmark to visit his family. The family cottage was a special place for Dennis, a place where he will always have cherished memories of watching his children grow. Every chance he got to take Kirsten, Paul, and their friends to the cottage, there was never any hesitation to spend that time together.
Dennis is survived by: his wife, Susana Albrechtsen; daughter, Kirsten (Mike Donk) Albrechtsen; son, Paul (Elise) Albrechtsen; sister, Margie Anielski; and numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Randi Milks.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, 8945 Stebbins Street, Montague, MI 49437, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM until time of service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albrechtsen Scholarship https://myredkite.com/finaid/albrechtsen-scholarship, Harbor Hospice of Muskegon https://harborhospicemi.org/, or St. James Lutheran Church, in Montague.
