Brenda Kathyrn Gorcyca, age 85, of Traverse City, Michigan, died March 15, 2025, at Cherry Hill Haven in Traverse City. Brenda was born September 26, 1939, to Russell and Kathryn (Sweeney) Barnum in Marshall, Michigan. On June 26, 1957, Brenda married Robert Gorcyca in Empire, Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1992.

Brenda and Bob enjoyed traveling in their motorhome in the winter to Arizona, New Mexico and Florida.  After Bob's passing, she continued to travel with friends and family to Florida as well as a few international trips.  She enjoyed music and in high school she played the violin as well as the keys later in life. Her favorite band was the Beatles.

Brenda worked as a phone operator for Michigan Bell.  She also served as secretary/treasurer for the local chapter of the Communication Workers of America.  She also worked as a TSA agent at Cherry Capital Airport.

Brenda is survived by: her children, Cynthia Gagnon of Traverse City, Shari (Larry) Poulisse of Lake Ann, Robert (Sandra) Gorcyca of Mancelona and John (Susan) Gorcyca of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and sister, Barbara (Michael) Khouri of Lake Ann.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandson Jeremy Poulisse.

A private service and burial will be at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery in Traverse City.
