IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian Joseph
Farkas
August 2, 1968 – May 28, 2022
Brian Joseph Farkas, 53, of Traverse City, died Saturday, May 28, 2022, peacefully in his sleep. He was born August 2, 1968, in Royal Oak, the son of Bernard and Mary Ellen (Linsell) Marzley.
Brian was a hardworking husband, father, and son. He started a long and successful career in the welding industry at 15-years-old. Brian was a sports enthusiast, playing hockey for a few years and remaining a diehard Detroit Red Wings (and Detroit Tigers fan) his entire life. Brian will be remembered for his quick wit, big laugh, bigger hugs, and his larger-than-life presence.
His simple, unspoken gestures of love and compassion permeated every day. Far too humble for grand gestures, he showed his undying love for his wife and family in all the little things he did. A hug here, a wry smile there, and always a fresh pot of coffee first thing in the morning.
On November 2, 1991, Brian married Nancy Carpenter who survives him. He is also survived by: his children, Matthew, Jeremy, Emily, and Michael; parents, Mary Ellen and Andy Farkas; siblings, Danny (Nicole), Craig, Patrick, Julie (Neil) Witowski, and Sean (Meredith); mother-in-law, Gayle Mendler; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Marzley.
