Obituary

Bryce Edwin Griffes, 86, of Pentwater, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born October 1, 1938, in Muskegon, the son of Leon and Edna (Lyons) Griffes.

Bryce married the love of his life, Elizabeth U. (Morris) Griffes on August 8, 1965, in Muskegon. They later moved to Mears in 1980, when they purchased the Courtland Lanes bowling alley in Hart. Together, Bryce and Elizabeth operated the lanes until retiring in 2000. Bryce was an avid bowler, and bowled in several different leagues.

Bryce proudly served his county in the US Army, and is a veteran of the Korean War. While deployed in the military, Bryce was a mechanic; following his time in the military, he went on to get his journeyman's card, and was employed with CWC for over 40 years until his retirement.

Bryce is survived by: his children, Leon (Lorann) Griffes of Pentwater, Flora (Daniel) Stout of Norton Shores, and William (Rose) Ruffilo of Florida; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Delmas Griffes.

Bryce was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth U. Griffes; and his parents, Leon Walter and Edna Griffes.

In accordance with Bryce's wishes, cremation has taken place, and he will be laid to rest with Elizabeth at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, in Muskegon.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
