Obituary

Mr. Buck Duane Beadle, age 91, of Hart, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012. He was born July 6, 1921, in Crystal Valley to Henry and Arlie (Northrup) Beadle. He married Betty J. Verschueren on September 14, 1961, in Whitehall; she preceded him in death in March 1998. Buck served in the US Navy from May 1940-October 1945 during WWII as a Metalsmith First Class. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, he was serving aboard the USS Hull and survived the attack. He later fought in the battles of Bourgainville, Salamua-Lea, Guadalcanal, Wake Island, Attu-Kiska, Wake Island again, and Tarawa. He was employed by the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1980. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Oceana County Sheriff Department from 1945 until the present. Buck was a life member of American Legion Post 234 and the Hart VFW Post 1329.

Buck is survived by one son, William Worthy of Allendale; two sisters, Bonnie (Garth) Spitler of Washington, and Wilma (John) Riley of Mears; one brother, David (Donna) Beadle of Hart; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife and his brother, Lee Beadle.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Ulysses Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Hart VFW Post 1329, the
American Legion Post 234, or the Oceana County Medical Care Facility.
