Calla Leah Krieger passed away peacefully at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on November 13, 2011. She was born May 15, 1921 at the family farm in Crystal Valley, Michigan to Calvin and Alma (Anson) Schick. Calla was a 1940 graduate of Hart High School. She married Mark Krieger on November 30, 1944 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She retired from assessor's office of the City of St. Joseph in May 1981. Calla was a member of the Elbridge Community Church and the Ladies' Aid. She enjoyed fishing, both summer and winter, in Michigan and Canada; watching softball, dancing with her husband Mark, and mushroom hunting in season. She was an avid Colorado Rockies fan and seldom missed a televised game. Calla was an accomplished shuffle boarder during their winter visits in Texas.
Calla is survived by her daughter, Susan (Alan) Kesterke of Cheyenne, Wyoming, grandsons Kristopher (Lark) Kesterke of Mukilteo, Washington, and Matthew Kesterke of Laramie, Wyoming, and great-grandson Elias Kesterke of Mukilteo, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mark, who passed away in 2001.
Graveside services will be Monday, November 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Hintz officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Ulysses Cemetery, Crystal Valley, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to the Crystal Township Fire Department, 1499 East Hammett Road, Hart, MI 49420 or to Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore Road, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82009.
