Obituary

It is with overwhelming sadness and heartbreak that we share the passing of Candace "Candy" Lee Sprague, 75, of Mears. Candy passed away peacefully in her home on December 9, 2022, when she joined her Heavenly Father.

Candy was born June 16, 1947, to Anne Mae and James William Allmon. She grew up in Lansing, MI, with her siblings, whom she adored. Candy moved to the Silver Lake area with her family in 1976, where she created many more memories with her family and friends. She worked several jobs before her position as Secretary for the State of Michigan at Silver Lake and Pentwater State Park, where she retired after 25 years. Not one to sit idle, she continued to work part time as a secretary for the Centenary United Methodist Church in Pentwater, and as a paraprofessional for the Hart School District.

Candy is survived by: her beloved husband of 49+ years, David Sprague; and adoring daughters, Robin Bartshe, Lisa McCann, and Tricia Merten. She will truly be missed by her loving grandchildren, Steve Jr, Michael (Abbe), Cassie, Nicholas (Kenya), Gina (Cristian), Shari, Caleb (Brittany), and Brenna; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; her brothers, James (Tammy) Allmon and Michael (Joyce) Allmon; and a sister, Cindy (Gary) Brown.

Candy was preceded in death by: her mother and father; two sisters, Robin Sue and Sharon; a first husband, Michael Wilcox; and a great-grandson, Gabriel.

Candy was a devoted child of God who was very involved with her church. She was known for her loving Christian heart, and anyone that had the honor to know her was touched by her kindness. It was often said that she was as sweet as her name "Candy." She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

There will be a private service for immediate family members, and a Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
