Mr. Carl Joseph Kalfsbeek, age 61, of Walkerville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011. He was born December 13, 1949, in Fremont to Joseph and Margaret (Kennedy) Kalfsbeek. He married Melody Bromley on April 29, 1995 in Walkerville. He was employed at GHSP.
Carl, also known by his mother as "Bug", had lots of patience with his children and his animals. He was a very dependable man who was always there for others and thought of others first. Carl was a very frugal manager with his resources. His children remember him well as their taxi service. He was an avid fisherman and raised hogs on his farm.
Carl is survived by his wife, Melody Kalfsbeek; two daughters, Shannon (Adam) Eschman and Cheyenne Kalfsbeek; one son, Shane (fiancée Sherree Ohmart) Montie, all of Walkerville; his mother Margaret Kalfsbeek; two sisters, Doris Staple of Hesperia, and Beth (Dean) Storms of Tennessee; and two brothers, Donald Kalfsbeek of Hesperia, and Tom (Paula) Kalfsbeek of Hesperia. He also has four grandchildren, Dylon, Jade, Mackenzie, and Jasmine. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Kalfsbeek, and brother, David Kalfsbeek.
Funeral services for Mr. Kalfsbeek will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Walkerville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bob Abbott officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at King Funeral Home.
