IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Casey Ryan
Crable
September 20, 1978 – June 28, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Casey Ryan Crable, who departed this world on June 28, 2025 at the age of 46. In November of 2022, Casey was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic gastric cancer, which he fought with every ounce of his being, turning a 3-month prognosis into a 30-month opportunity to live the rest of his life knowing his time on this earth was limited. His loyal and loving wife of 22 years, Cherene Powell, was by his side in their beloved Traverse City when he transitioned to the spiritual world.
Casey was born on September 20, 1978 in Rochester, MN, the middle son of Harvey III and Cindy (Block) Crable, and the brother of Harvey IV (Kirby) and Kyle. Casey attended elementary school in Sleepy Eye, MN before moving to the city of Wells, MN to attend United South Central for middle and high school, and eventually moving to Mankato, MN where he attended Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Casey invested 20 years in working at Menards as a General Manager of Store Operations, where he was recognized as "one of our best leaders and most creative thinkers". Casey loved working with the Menards team and he missed it dearly after retiring in 2019.
Casey and Cherene built a dream home in Traverse City, MI, in 2022. It was Casey's work with Menards that took them to Traverse City in 2009, a place they quickly realized was special. Traverse City became a lighthouse for them, bringing a sense of joy and belonging. The design of house orients around an appreciation for the beauty of watching the sun set over Lake Michigan, a sight to behold in this lifetime and beyond.
Throughout his life, Casey was a sports enthusiast, and he enjoyed traveling and making memories. He was fortunate to be able to experience so much in his lifetime – and he was often the catalyst to make these experiences happen for those he loved. Casey attended MLB games in all 32 stadiums culminating with an on-field celebration of this achievement by the MN Twins in September 2023. He visited many NHL and NFL stadiums for games and followed U of MN Gopher football to 10 different Big10 stadiums.
Casey was also blessed to have visited four of the Seven Wonders of the World including the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichén Itzá in Mexico, and the Taj Mahal in India. He attended the opening day of Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, and in the spirit of adventure - he jumped from an airplane overlooking Lake Michigan, ziplined above canopies of trees in Costa Rica, whitewater rafted the Royal Gorge in Colorado, and swam with giant manta rays in Hawaii.
Casey's friendships meant the world to him and he was blessed with many meaningful relationships over the years. This begins with his cherished lifelong friends – Guy Kimpton, Dustin Fisher, and Tim Schultz – a "crew" he ran with from childhood until the end. At college, Casey made a fast connection with Jason Worlie, who became a friend for life. Casey also developed strong friendships with many colleagues at Menards, a few who became friends outside of work including Chris Jones, Jim Maki, and Ryan Neumeier. And lastly, Casey fortunate to make new friends in Traverse City – one in particular in Gabriel Marzonie.
Casey's spirit has joined the company of his father, Harvey Crable III, Cherene's father, Russ Powell, and his grandparents, Harvey II & Ivajean (Hill) Crable, and Donald & Gloria (Heggerness) Block.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Joceline Huang and the entire MHealth Cancer Care team for your artful navigation of Casey's treatment – providing him with 10x more months on this earth from the original prognosis.
After his diagnosis Casey found peace and comfort at the Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Casey's life will be held there on July 11 at 3 pm CT. Friends and family are invited to share their love, respect and memories.
