Catherine Billadeau of Traverse City died May 6, 2021, at her home on Bass Lake in Traverse City, surrounded by her family.

Cathy was born March 22, 1947, in Saginaw, to Eleanor and Joseph Loeffler. After she grew up and moved to northern Michigan, she spent 35 years managing shipping and receiving for World Magnetics in Traverse City. She was a dedicated and hard worker who always made sure everything was done right.

In 1988, she married Charles Billadeau of Traverse City. They traveled the world, visiting England, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Greece, Hawaii and Las Vegas. They loved Alaska, going there three times.

In her spare time, Cathy was an avid quilter. She made hundreds of quilts, donating many to charity including to the U.S. Coast Guard — Chuck is retired from the Coast Guard — for raffles and charitable causes. She was a member of the Fellowship Quilt Guild, along with other quilting organizations, and won awards and recognition for her quilts.

Cathy also enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends. She especially loved life at the lake.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; his children, Christopher (Gayle) Billadeau of Edger Springs, Missouri, Charles J. Billadeau of Fortson, Georgia, and Carla Billadeau of Youngstown, Ohio; brothers Joseph (Kay) Loeffler of Saginaw and Paul (Linda) Loeffler of East Lansing, along with sister Barbara (Albert) Damalk of The Villages, Florida; brother-in-law Del (Phyllis) Miller of Saginaw; six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews; close friend and quilting partner Sandy Moravec of Curtis; and other dear friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon A. Miller.

Cremation is being handled by Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
