Obituary

Cecil (Rusty) Dennert passed away unexpectedly on Saturday,
November 1, 2008. He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather. Rusty was born and raised at his family's farm in Weare
Township. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the
European theater until being wounded in action. He was awarded a
purple heart and two bronze stars. Following the war, he married the
love of his life, Virginia Greiner. They were married for 62 years and
raised five children. Besides working on the farm, Rusty was
employed as a dental technician by Dr. Tom Stevens in Hart for 40
years. Rusty's passion was farming, but he also enjoyed playing
cards, watching baseball and spending time with family and friends.
He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and served
as a lay minister, reader and parish council member. He was involved
in the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and Knights of Columbus
organizations. He was also a former 4-H leader. Rusty will be deeply
missed by his family and friends who regarded him as a man
sincerely dedicated to his family and faith. With his courage and
determination, Rusty was a prime example of the Greatest
Generation. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Rusty is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Dennert; their children, Gary (Carol) Dennert of Hart, Kathy (Chuck) Miesch of Grand Haven, Gene (Robbie) Dennert of Hart, Joanie (Tim) Beyer of Hart; 11 grandchildren, Dee Dee (Bill) Decker, Darcy Dennert, Brandon Dennert, Stephanie (Dan) Tlachac, Stacey Miesch, Katie Miesch, Steven Miesch, Jake Dennert, Garrett Dennert, Nick Beyer, Anna Visscher; 2 great grandchildren, Matthew Hasty, Caitlyn Tlachac; 1 brother, Eddie (Bernadette) Dennert of Hart; 1 sister, Dolores Butler of Hart; 2 sisters in law, Dolores Dennert of Flint, MI, Julia Dennert of Hart; 1 son in law, Ron Visscher of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Nancy Visscher, twin brother, Cyril Dennert, 2 brothers, Henry and Louis "Kayo" Dennert; 2 sisters, Gerri Purdy, Estelle Dennert. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Joseph Catholic Church-Weare. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery with full Military Rites by the Hart VFW Post 1329 and Hart American Legion Post 234.Visitation Tuesday, 7-9 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 P.M. and visitation Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be given to the Crystal Valley Care Fund.
