Obituary

Chad Robert Genia; April 25, 1987 to January 16, 2026; son of Sharon Genia and Brock (Lisa) Morman; paternal grandson of Robert and Sharon Morman; brother of Kajetan Morman and Maggie Morman; nephew of Steve Genia, Diane McDonald, Deb Genia, William Genia Jr, Robert Genia, Todd Morman and Rebecca (Michael) Havlicek; preceded in death by maternal grandparents William and Joy Genia.

Our beloved Chad, you have left us, abruptly, shockingly, way too soon, leaving without a hug and a good bye, as you always did. We are devastated as we cope with your absence. For 38 years you were a family treasure, more precious and valued than all the gold in the world, adored, loved and assiduously cared for by the family but especially by your mother, an angel, a saint, an indefatigable warrior and the most devoted mother on earth.

Oh, Chad, why did you leave us? We weep and wail, cry and sob, but sadly it seems of no avail. You're gone. Gone. We suffer in grueling loss, pain so severe it causes us to wonder: can we ever recover?  We grieve.  We mourn. We hurt. We are hurting, a hurt unabated, now and surely for the rest of our lives.  Our hearts are broken.  We are broken.

Oh, Chad, why did you leave us?  You were the sunshine that brightened our days.  You were the music that animated our joy. You were the prankster and tease who kindled our laughter. You were our delight, fun to be with, sociable, smiling, regaling us with your stirring spirit. Though you left us grief-stricken, you left us with memories, evoking the many good times we shared, and they will sustain us.

Oh, Chad, why did you leave us? You were our pride, our joy, the fun in our lives, from the time you were an exuberant boy to an endearing man.  You were our "Chadley," our "Big Guy" whose idiosyncrasies amused us then and will hearten us for our remaining years. You were our hope, Beloved Chad, inspiring us always to never give up.  You were a fighter who never quit, as you coped with the adversities of autism and epilepsy.

Oh, Chad, why did you leave us?  We had so much fun together in the outdoors, no matter the season, no matter the weather. The outdoors was your preferred fun place, seesawing on a swing, riding a scooter and bike, walking in the woods, jumping on a trampoline and swimming as a youth; and, as an adult, hiking, playing catch and picnicking.

Your favorite outdoor place, by far, was the family nature sanctuary, forty acres of escape, peace and enjoyment.  There, you enjoyed the family gatherings and trail hiking. You loved to ride, whether over country roads or city streets or in the state park, though it usually included a stop somewhere along the way to buy a soft drink and maybe a hamburger.  You were a foodie. To please you, we did most anything you asked for. Your needs were our deeds.

Oh, Chad, why did you leave us? Our lives will be a daunting  struggle without you.  You infused our lives with meaning, with a purpose, with a dedication we lacked before you. You changed us, opening our eyes, from the time you were born until the day you died. You surely did, beloved lad. Because of you our patience, tolerance and love swelled beyond measure. Love most of all. We love you dearly, our extraordinary Chad, and we always will.  Oh, and how much we miss you!

Beloved Chad, may you rest in peace.
