Obituary

Mrs. Charlene M. Lound, age 68, of Mears, died Thursday, April 23, 2009. She was born in Hart on May 12, 1940 to Henry and Genevieve VandenHeuvel. On February 5, 1981, she married Donald Lound at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Charlene attended Davenport University and was employed as a court reporter and secretary for Oceana County. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church. Charlene also was a director with the Mason County Saddle Club and was a 4-H club member and leader. Her interests included horses, golfing, reading, shopping and her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles and needle work of all kinds. Charlene was also known for her cooking and was a talented seamstress. She is remembered as a very giving person, always being young at heart and full of life. She was always there for her children. She is survived by her husband Don Lound of Mears; her children, Karyn (Thomas) Abrahamson of Ludington, Christopher Greiner of Morenci, MI and Ronda (Paul) Pek of North Muskegon; five step-children, Deborah (Jack) Mitteer of Shelby, Paul (Kathy) Lound of Shelby, Timothy (Noreen) Lound of Shelby, Julie (Craig) Klooster of Wyoming, MI and Donald Lound, Jr. of Mason, MI; sixteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several godchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Douglas) Leafstrand of Ludington, Judith (Warren) Larsen of Scottville; brother, Richard (Janice) VandenHeuvel of Pentwater. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ronald Greiner in 1976 and her brother, David VandenHeuvel. The Mass of the Resurrection for Charlene will be offered Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Schneider presiding. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. from the Tate-King Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oceana County Ambulance Service or Harbor Hospice.
