Charles "Ed" Bigelow, 80, of Pentwater, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018. He was born April 14, 1938, in Alpena, the son of Charles and Audrey (Squire) Bigelow.

Ed moved to Pentwater in 1945 with his mother and sister. He attended Pentwater School and graduated in 1958.

After high school, Ed attended Western Michigan University for one year before going into the Army. He was a Helicopter Crew Chief with the 101 ^st Airborne in Germany.

After Ed's discharge from the Army, he went to work at General Motors for 37 years, working his way up to a management position. Upon his retirement, Ed returned to Pentwater and became involved with the village; first as a council member, and later as the village president. He was also very active in The Pentwater Historical Society and very supportive of The Pentwater VFW.

Ed loved to hunt and fish and have summer picnics with his friends.

Ed is survived by: his daughter, Brenda (Paul) Herron; his son, Charles Bigelow; his stepson, Tom (Cindy) Ringwald; his stepdaughter, Cindy Baker; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren . He is also survived by: his sisters, Laura (Eddie) Ervin and Linda (Nick) Fekken; his brother, William (Toni) Bigelow; his special friend, Linda Eisenlohr; and a special niece and nephew and their children.

Ed was preceded in death by: his mother and step-father, Audrey and Glen Heaster; and his father and step-mother, Charles and Boots.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 7, 2019, First Baptist Church in Pentwater. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentwater Historical Society or the First Baptist Church of Pentwater.
