Charles Richard "Dick"
Kriesel
Jan 27, 1938 — Jun 18, 2026
Charles Richard “Dick” Kriesel passed peacefully on June 18, 2026, at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Dick was born on January 27, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Marian (Dahl) Kriesel.
After graduating from Lincoln Park High School, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force. While home on leave he met his future wife Madeline “Midge” Sanok on a blind date. They were married on February 7, 1959 in Lincoln Park. After completing his service in the Air Force they settled in the Detroit area where Dick attended trade school to learn the Printing trade.
Dick worked at the Detroit Free Press until 1968 when he and Midge moved their growing family to Montague, Michigan. As a boy Dick had enjoyed many visits to the White Lake area, where his mother and father grew up. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing with uncles during those visits, and was thrilled to be able to move to Montague where he could more easily share those types of activities and his love of the outdoors with his children. Dick worked as a printer for the Muskegon Chronicle until 1974, when the process of typeset printing became obsolete at the Chronicle. Dick then found employment at DuPont in Montague and finished his working career there in 1993, retiring at age 55.
In retirement Dick loved to golf with Midge, deer hunt, and fish - especially at the White Lake Channel. There were some fall days when he was known to do all three activities in the same day! Dick had the good fortune to make two holes in one at his favorite course, Old Channel Trail.
Dick is survived by his wife Midge; daughter, Lori (Mitch) Coleman, son Gary (Mary), son Scott, and daughter Traci; grandchildren, Jason (Sandy Black) Kriesel, Richard (Cara) Kriesel, Kaley (David) Anderson, Stuart (Mandy) Heinz, William (Ardis Miller) Heinz, and Camryn Kriesel. Dick was also blessed with nine great grandchildren.
Per Dick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral services are planned.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Harbor Hospice Foundation - Poppen Residence 1050 W. Western Ave., Suite 400 Muskegon, MI 49441.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
