Charles George Martin, 87, of Traverse City, died Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Culver Meadows Senior Living, in Traverse City, with his family by his side.  He was born December 6, 1934, in Iron Mountain, the son of Melvin and Elva (Castle) Martin Sr.

Charles was a proud Coast Guardsman, retiring in Traverse City after 20 years.

Charles is survived by: his sons, Timothy (Lisa) Martin of Clinton Township, Kelly (Tricia) Martin of Traverse City; daughters, Rosemarie Dallavalle of Traverse City and Jean (Mark) Winowiecki of Cedar; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Timmy, David, Jessica, Shane, Skylar, Ashley, and Zoe; sister Bonnie Grady of Pahrump, Nevada; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

On June 27, 1957, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Charles married Margaret Louise Cheney who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by: his parents; daughter Tammy; and three brothers, John, Melvin Jr., and Merlin.

A celebration of Charles' life will be held at a later date.
