Obituary

It is with great peace and sadness that we share the passing of our Momma, Christine (Tina) Dunn in the early evening of Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

With the breeze on her face, birds chirping in the sun, and surrounded by her closest loved ones, Mom transitioned from this life to the next. As her children, we chose each other long before our time together began. And she will be with us and in us until we die. Her legacy of grace, kindness, awe of the natural world, and undying compassion and love will live on through us always.

Growing up in southeast Michigan, Mom was the youngest of seven siblings. Her parents left an incredible food forest legacy in their suburban backyard, allowing her space to find much peace in connection with plants and animals alike. Throughout her life, Mom took time to grow food in her own garden, admire flowers, take countless photographs (often of her children and nature), always care for a golden retriever, travel the country (paper atlas in one hand, camera in the other), connect with her family, and be a beloved mother. She spent a large portion of her life married to Michael Dunn (d.2020), who gave her the space and freedom to give time and presence to their children in ways that she always hoped for.

Mom's artistic abilities were expressed in many forms including nourishing those around her with delicious food. She spent years in the hospitality industry, where she exercised her signature care and compassion for others, including in her own business ventures. She also loved to write, publishing a children's book entitled Heart Blossoms in 2015, and recording her life experiences in many personal journals.

Mom was devoted to a lifestyle of peace and nourishment for both herself and the people that she loved. Her generosity knew no bounds and her compassion for all life was a compass for her attention toward human kind. She always seemed to offer the most magical personal touches to any gift, sentence, or presentation of art.

While we –her friends, family, and loved ones– are saddened by her death, we are also grounded in deep gratitude. We are thankful for all of the moments we were able to spend with her. We are thankful for her peaceful passing. We are thankful that her soul will now guide and steward us with gentle hands from across the veil.

Support of her children is welcome via GoFundMe . Additional donations can be made in her name to the Horse North Rescue in Interlochen, MI.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
