Christopher Carlisle Berry, 62, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully Friday, April 7, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center in Whitehall. He was born December 17, 1954, in West Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward and Jeanne (Ferris) Berry.
Chris spent his childhood in Elburn, Illinois and later went to college at U.W. Platteville, in Wisconsin. He then moved to California to attend the Brooks Institute of Photography. After graduating, he moved to St. Charles, Illinois and began work at Berry Asset Management as well as starting a Christmas Tree Farm in Hart, Michigan.
In 1986, Chris married the love of his life, Jeanne (Norgord), in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1989 they moved to Whitehall where Chris spent several summers since childhood, and to run the Christmas tree farm full-time. Eventually Chris also began working in the construction industry as a homebuilder and renovator. He enjoyed many things including photography, sailing, playing music, extreme sporting activities, and spending time outdoors no matter what the weather brought. But most of all, his biggest enjoyment was his family and friends.
Chris is survived by: his loving wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Melissa (Zach) Fillmore; his granddaughters, Amelia and Noraa Fillmore; his mother, Jeanne Berry; his siblings, Ted (Penny) Berry, Mark (Kathy) Berry, Valerie Berry, Sally Berry, Jennifer (Carter) Calloway, Margaret (Greg) Edwards, and Michelle Berry; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by: his beloved son, Aaron; his brother, Eric; and his father, Edward.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, in Whitehall, with Reverend Douglas Ogden officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9 PM, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, in Whitehall, and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
