Obituary

Connie Louise Sobanski went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was born November 19, 1938 in Sault Ste Marie to Michael and Constance Collins and they moved to Ludington in 1949 . Connie met her husband at the Epworth Dining Room and they were married on August 29, 1955 at St. Simon Church. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Her husband Chuck cared for her for during the last fifteen years with loving attention and compassion. They both graduated from Ludington High School in 1970 when they completed their high school requirements. Connie was very good at being a nurse's aid at Oakview Medical Care Facility and treated her residents with tenderness and respect. She also worked at Star Watch Case working on the assembly line for creating watches. Connie was the first matron hired at the Ludington school system and also worked at the old Paulina Stearns Hospital (health department) as a custodian as well as at the courthouse. She loved to paint her house windows with Charlie Brown characters in the winter.  Connie was always doing a craft of some sort. Her neighbors and friends were always recipients of her goodie baskets. She loved baking and made a special recipe of Finnish biscuit and donuts which her family always loved. Connie enjoyed the summer the most when the sun was shining and it was warm enough to be outside.  She really loved her roses and had a strong faith connection to St. Theresa and was known as the Green Scapular Lady at her church and throughout the community. Connie is survived by her husband, Chuck; four children, Kathleen Parcia (Paul Herban) of Traverse City, MI, Cynthia (John) Wybenga of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael (Cinda) Sobanski of Ludington, MI and Amy (Martin) McGraw  of Ludington, MI; grandchildren, Peter (Kelly) Sobanski, Jessica (Brad) Rodriguez, Aaron McGraw, Danny Rutherford, Brandon (Jaimie) Wybenga, Rachel (David) Galer, Rebecca (Andrew) Gallup, Molly (Lee) Schwass, Chelsea Sobanski and Joshua Sobanski; ten great-grandchildren, Cora, Nyobi and Anya Sobanski, Landen and Ava Wybenga, Eliza, Conrad and Hazel Schwass, Blake and Ellie Mae Galer. She is preceded in death by her grandson Travis Parcia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Simon Catholic Church on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Pere Marquette Cemetery in Ludington. Visitation will be held Monday April 3, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church.
