Obituary

Cynthia Lynn Schulz, age 61 of Custer, was called home by her Lord and Savior on April 6, 2024 at Blodgett Hospital (Select Speciality) in Grand Rapids after a battle with breast cancer.  Cindi was born on December 17, 1962, in Ludington to David & Nancy (MacArthur) Moran.

Cindi graduated from Mason County Central High School and was one of the first to attend classes at the newly built high school. She later attended West Shore Community College to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.

On October 3, 1993 Cindi married William Martin Schulz III. They spent many happy years together raising their children.

Cindi worked as a waitress at a variety of restaurants throughout her life and was well loved by all of her customers. After completing her degree in Early Childhood Education she worked at Small Wonders Childcare Center, changing the lives of countless children with her kindness and passion for teaching young minds.

Cindi loved spending time in nature and all creatures big and small. You could find her in the summers on back country roads scouring milkweed plants for monarch butterfly eggs and caterpillars; that she raised for years. She loved to share and educate on the metamorphosis of monarchs with her kids, grandkids, and all of the children she taught. Cindi spent her life spreading her kindness and positivity to any and everyone.

Most of all, Cindi loved being a mom and Nana. Her grandchildren adored her in every aspect. She was a kind and gentle soul, which made them comfortable to be themselves. She was always down to play with play-dough, read countless books, play hair salon and so much more. She also brought them neat creatures, such as praying mantis, walking sticks, turtles, and of course butterflies!

Cindi will be remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Cindi was preceded in death by: her husband, Billy; son, Jedidiah; brother, Daniel, mother, Nancy; grandmother, Jean; and her uncle, Randy.

Cindi is survived by: her daughters, Keelie (Max) Oppman of Scottville, and Lacey (Dino) Williams of Branch; her grandchildren, Arya and Avah Oppman of Scottville, and Camdyn, Salvatore, and Octavia D'Asaro of Branch; her father, David Moran of Ludington; brother, Brandon Moran of Ludington; and her sisters, Rhonda of Ludington and Lisa of Grand Rapids.
