Daniel Dale Hertel, 52, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. He was born April 28, 1968, in Shelby, the son of Dennis and Nancy (Greiner) Hertel.

Dan was a graduate of Whitehall High School class of 1986. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed various sports. Dan had a sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He was a hardworking, determined man, always willing to help others in need. Dan was a loving and dedicated father, son, brother, and friend.

Dan is survived by: his sons, Owen Hertel and Elijah Hertel, and their mother, Lynn Hertel; step-son, Caleb (Danielle) Blanchette; mother, Nancy Hertel; brother, Dean (Amy) Hertel; sister, Brenda (Rich) Grow; nephew, Richie Grow; aunt, Marie (Gary) Fitzpatrick; and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Hertel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 28, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling Street, Whitehall, MI 49437, with Fr. Bartholomew Okagbue presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made toward an education fund for Dan's sons, care of Lynn Hertel, 319 South Mechanic Avenue, Fremont, MI 49412.
