Darlene Louise Pineda, 75, of Montague, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. She was born January 30, 1946, in Hart, the daughter of George and Lucille (Lewis) Pego.
Darlene was a graduate of Hart High School, and was involved in the Class of 1964 reunions and luncheons. She had been a cook at Pizza Hut for over 30 years and enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, and watching her grandchildren play sports for Montague, including 2008 and 2009 State Football Champions. Darlene was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, and a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague.
Darlene is survived by: her children, Michelle (John) Hickman, Michael (Kryn) Pineda, Danny (Diane) Pineda, and Mario (Franki) Pineda; grandchildren, Anthony Guerra, Nick Guerra, David (Melissa) Massey, Alex (Joyce) Pineda, Brandon Pineda, Daniel (Megan) Pineda, Deanna Near, Drew (Bethany) Pineda, Danae (Manuel) Villeda, Damara Pineda, Josh Pineda, Matthew Pineda, Patrick Pineda, Lauren Ware, Promise Long, Shane Long, Dylan Long, and Chealynn Long; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Coral) Pego and Alan (Monica) Pego; and sisters, Mary (Edward) Sherman and Sally (Steve) Russo.
On April 23, 1962, Darlene married David Pineda, and he precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by: her parents; grandson, Zachary Pineda; and sister, Georgianna Adamzack.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 18, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling Street, Montague, MI 49437, with Fr. Peter Omogo officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, and Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Montague, in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
