Daryl Gene Hoeksema, 77, of Montague, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was born January 10, 1944, in Muskegon, the son of Joseph and Katherine (Balkema) Hoeksema.

Hoek was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, nature, and was a farmer in the area. He and his wife, Joyce, were members of Ferry Memorial Reformed Church, in Montague, for over 40 years.

On July 2, 1966, he married Joyce (Hilgendorf) Hoeksema, and she survives him. He is also survived by: his daughters, Cheryl (Todd) Staal and Michelle (Mitch) Johnson; grandchildren, Michael (Bailey) Staal, Matthew (Madeline) Staal, Isaac Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and Joshua Johnson; and his cousins, the Burkall family.

Hoek was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Katherine; and his aunt and uncle, Art and Dee Burkall.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 13, 2021, at Ferry Memorial Reformed Church, 8637 Old Channel Trail, Montague, MI 49437, with Pastor Todd Staal officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Hubbard Cemetery, Montague.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ferry Memorial Reformed Church Youth Program.
