David Arnold Nelson, 88, of Whitehall, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024. He was born July 5, 1936, in Lakeview, the son of Arnold and Ruth (Thompson) Nelson.

David graduated from Lee County Public School in 1954. He later worked for Consumers Energy and retired in 1998.

David enjoyed golfing, gardening, bowling, playing guitar, and music. He was a past member of Sons of the American Legion Post 69, in Whitehall.

David is survived by: his children, Michael (Julie) Nelson of Bay City, Mark Nelson of Whitehall, and Michelle (Jerry) Hinson of Fort Mills, SC; sisters-in-law, Jackie Nelson and Ellen Schmiedeknecht; and many loving nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by: his wife of 63 years, Karen Ann Nelson; his parents; his infant sister, Rebecca; and brothers, Paul, James, Daniel, and Robert.

In accordance with David's wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Oakhurst Cemetery, in Whitehall, Michigan.
