David John Bedau, 96, of Whitehall, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019. He was born on February 8, 1923, the son of Robert and Anita Bedau.

David married Mary Weise in Park Ridge, Illinois. Together they were blessed with 74 years of marriage and three children. Upon graduation from high school, David joined the US Army and served his country proudly in WWII. After completing his time in the service, he returned home and started Bedau Builders in North Muskegon doing residential building and remodeling until his retirement in the 1980s. David enjoyed endless hours on the water sailing and boating, or at his home on Duck Lake. He loved skiing at ski resorts in Northern Michigan and Colorado, especially Durango. David was a hardworking man with a dry sense of humor and the ability to tell a great story. He will be deeply missed.

David is survived by: children, David II (Barbara), Scott (Kathy), Nanette (Gregg); grandchildren, Kimberley (Michael), Brent (Sarah), Matt (Jenna), Katherine (Jason), Jeremy, Lynn (Bob), Kelly, Amy (Jason), and Kevin (Kristen); and 13 great-grandchildren

David was preceded in death by: his wife Mary; his parents; brother, Richard; and sisters, Anita and Lorraine.

Cremation will take place, and a private celebration of David's life will take place.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
