Eden Township Cemetery
1:00 - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
David Charles Cook, born January 15, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Nellie and Ray Cook, passed away peacefully at home in Irons, Michigan, on April 12, 2026.
David was a dedicated steelmill worker at Hercules Drawn Steel, where he worked tirelessly while raising nine children. He was a man of deep commitment—to both his work and his family—and took great pride in providing for those he loved.
Outside of work, David had a wide range of passions that brought him joy throughout his life. He loved baseball, having played for years in the Hercules Drawn Steel league, and remained a devoted fan of the game. He found peace in bird watching and had a special appreciation for nature. Many weekends were spent searching for hidden treasures at rummage sales, a pastime he truly enjoyed. He also took pride in his collections of ships and lighthouses, each piece reflecting his curiosity and love of discovery.
To David, there were no strangers—only friends he hadn’t met yet. He had a gift for striking up conversations with anyone, anywhere, driven by a genuine interest in people and their stories. His kindness and willingness to help others were constants in his life.
David was also known for his persistence. Whether working on a vehicle or tackling any challenge, he simply did not give up. Even when things didn’t come easily, he kept trying—a reflection of his resilient spirit.
He is survived by his children, Scott (Brenda) Roberts, Sherry (Dean) Thore, Robert East, Lori Thore, David Cook, Tobey Cook, and Maggie (Al) Shaughnessy; his beloved grandchildren, Timothy Roberts, Angela Eisen, Kevin Csupak, Krista East, Andrea Brady, Corey Brady, Krista Thore, Nicholas Boik, Lucas Pursley, Tara Cook, Ryan Cook, and Braydon Conner Cook; and his twin brother, Donald Cook. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Melissa Cook.
David will be remembered for his strong personality, his honesty, and his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a great dad who showed his love in his own way, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at Eden Township Cemetery on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a luncheon to follow at the Eden Township Hall.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
