David M. Nelson, 87, of Montague, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born March 29, 1938, in Shelby, the son of Claire and Irene (Johnson) Nelson.

David graduated from Montague High School in 1956. After high school, he worked on his family dairy farm. Later in life, he was a truck driver in Florida and Michigan.

Dad liked talking with his son's about what equipment was getting fixed and what fields were getting planted. He also enjoyed long drives down the country roads and admiring all the crops.

David is survived by: his sons, Terry Nelson, Richard (Jo) Nelson, David II (Jill) Nelson, of WI, and Derrick (Henrike), of Washington DC; brother, Lynn (Ida) Nelson; sister, Martha (Jim) Tanis; and special daughter-in-law, Sally Carlson.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Irene Nelson.

In accordance with David's wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a private graveside service in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Montague.
